A group of men drove through a hedge during an escape after attempting to steal an ATM machine.

Cambridgeshire Police said it was called to the Morrisons in Parsons Green, St Ives, at 01:11 BST to reports of an attempted theft of an ATM machine.

A spokesperson for the force said a group of men in a dark SUV were involved in the incident but had fled in the vehicle empty handed.

"The vehicle was driven through a hedge during the escape, causing damage to the car and leaving debris behind," they added.

Police said officers arrived at the scene seven minutes after receiving the reports and said a search of the area was carried out.

Anyone with information or footage in relation to the incident was asked to get in contact with police.
