Sunflower 'sea' honours loved ones
Hospice at Home West CumbriaA castle has been surrounded by a "sea of sunflowers" creating a space for people to remember lost loved ones.
Organised by Hospice at Home West Cumbria, the weekend event at Cockermouth Castle features a display of 500 handcrafted ironwork sunflowers.
The charity, which provides palliative treatment, said it would also enable people to reflect on patients in its care.
Visitors can purchase one of a limited number of the flowers to dedicate to a loved one, with the funds going to support the charity.
Holly Harkness, the charity's community fundraising said: "The sunflower is the universal symbol of hospice care, representing light, loyalty and love, so we welcome you to come along and enjoy the bright display.
"The castle grounds are such a beautiful setting, and we'd like to thank Lord and Lady Egremont, for hosting our display.
"We hope it will allow people to find out more about what we do, and provide a special opportunity to support our cause and help us continue to make a difference."
