Man charged following death of woman hit by van

A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged over a road traffic offence following a fatal collision in Stranraer in Dumfries and Galloway earlier this year.

Margaret Joy Todd was hit by a white Vauxhall Vivaro van at about 10:20 on Saturday 3 January in Sheuchan Street near the junction with Park Lane.

Emergency services attended and the 85-year-old, known as Joy, was taken to hospital where she later died.

No-one else was injured. Police said a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
