Man in life-threatening condition after crash

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Sheffield city centre.

The man, who is in his 80s, was struck by a black Toyota bZ4X in Arundel Gate at about 12:20 BST, near to the O2 Academy.

South Yorkshire Police said the Toyota driver stopped at the scene and had been assisting officers.

The force has appealed for any witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to come forward.
