Musician announced as city's youngest mayor
LDRSA 26 year-old musician has been appointed the new Mayor of Worcester, which the council believes could make her the youngest.
Tor Pingree has taken over the chain of office after being voted in at Tuesday night's annual council meeting. She takes over from Matt Lamb with Karen Holmes elected as deputy mayor.
Pingree, who is a part of local band Icy Moon Explorers, said: "I am very pleased to be the 18th female Mayor of Worcester and probably the youngest yet." She added it was an honour to be able to represent the city she grew up in.
Her chosen charity for her mayoral year is Onside Advocacy, an organisation which helps people find the right support and services.
"The history and culture of the city means a great deal to me and I will do my best this year to support and promote it," she said.
The Mayor's Consort for the year will be her husband, Alaric Stephen, and the Mayor's Orator is local poet Giovanni Esposito.
