A man has been charged after "suspicious devices" were found on a housing estate, leading to people being evacuated from their homes.

Residents living on Edward Sutcliffe Close in Fallowfield, Manchester, were asked to leave their houses on 6 and 7 June after items were found in a garden on Abram Close. The bomb squad were called to the street.

Greater Manchester Police said a further incident on 9 June was also linked to the investigation.

Miguel Sanchez, 22, of Edward Sutcliffe Close, has now been charged with three counts of possession of an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams were called to the scene and carried out controlled operations, police said.

GMP said the incidents were believed to be isolated and that there was no wider threat to the public.
