Car overturns and lands on roof after crash

A driver has escaped without being seriously hurt after their car crashed and landed on its roof.

Police and paramedics were called to a road traffic collision near a Co-op store at the junction with Stradbroke Road and London Road, in Lowestoft, Suffolk, on Monday.

Officers and paramedics found a red Renault overturned in the middle of the road, which was subsequently closed at the Pakefield roundabout.

Suffolk Police said the driver was taken to hospital without any serious injuries, while the vehicle was recovered at 09:45 BST.

The East of England Ambulance Service said it had sent both an ambulance and ambulance officer vehicle to the scene.

"We were called just before 8.30am to a road traffic collision on London Road in Pakefield," a spokesperson said.

"An adult man was transported to the James Paget Hospital for further assessment and treatment."
