Machete-wielding robbers hold up cash delivery van

A "distinctive" van is being hunted after a cash delivery driver was robbed by two men armed with a machete.

West Midlands Police said it happened at the Windmills Shopping Park in Cape Hill, Smethwick, at about 07:45 GMT on Monday.

The victim, who was not hurt during the incident, was robbed by two men wearing balaclavas who fled with a "quantity of cash," a force spokesperson said.

Officers said the robbers were believed to have used a white Ford Transit Custom Van, which had missing front and rear number plates.

Det Sgt Tom Frenchum, from the force, appealed for anyone with information to get in contact.

"This was clearly a terrifying ordeal for the driver, but thankfully he was not physically injured during the robbery," he said.

"We believe that the plates will have been put back on the vehicle now, but we need to hear from anyone who thinks they may have information about its whereabouts before or after the robbery."
