A man has been jailed for raping two women as well as controlling and coercive behaviour towards them.

Jacob Evans was sentenced to 15 years in prison at Chester Crown Court, with a further six years on licence.

Evans, from Baddington, near Nantwich, Cheshire, previously pleaded guilty to four counts of rape and sexual assault by penetration.

The 22-year-old also pleaded guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm, two counts of making threats with a bladed weapon and two counts of engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour. Cheshire Police commended the "courage" of his victims.

Evans abused the two women between 2021 and 2025, and both told police that he had physically assaulted them and threatened them with violence on multiple occasions.

One of the women told officers he had threatened her with a knife.

Both women said they had been raped by Evans a number of times as well as being forced to engage in other sexualised activity under the threat of violence.

He also emotionally manipulated them, police said as well as verbally degrading them and looking through their phones.

One woman told officers Evans he bullied her into letting him drive her car, despite not being insured.

He forced her to sell her belongings in order to buy him sports clothing and alcohol as well as an iPhone and Apple watch.

Shortly after being given the devices, he sold them and kept the money for himself, police said.

'Extremely volatile'

After his arrest, Evans initially told officers he "wasn't worried" about the allegations against him.

Despite denying any wrongdoing and providing "no comment" answers during interviews, he changed his plea to guilty on the first day of the trial on Monday.

Alongside his custodial sentence, Evans was also handed an indefinite restraining order against both women.

"The two women at the centre of this investigation have been subjected to a torrent of abuse by an individual who thought he could hold power over and manipulate them both without facing any form of consequence," said Det Con Toby Hills, of Cheshire Police.

"Despite bearing the brunt of an onslaught of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, these two women bravely came forward to prevent their abuser from harming anyone else."

He said the investigation had required them to relive their trauma, and commended them for their courage.

"What has been uncovered over the course of this emotionally challenging investigation is that Jacob Evans is an extremely volatile individual who poses a serious risk to women."
