Police in Aberdeen are investigating reports that a firearm was fired from a car in the city.

The incident is reported to have happened at 22:40 on Saturday in Ruthrieston Crescent. It is claimed that the firearm discharged at a house.

No injuries were reported and no property was damaged.

Police are appealing for any footage of a red hatchback - possibly a Vauxhall Astra - in the area at the time, and said inquiries were continuing.

Det Insp Bruce Buntain said: "I understand that this will be concerning for the community.

"But I would like to reassure them that extensive inquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

"I am appealing to anyone who has any information, or saw something suspicious in the area that night, to come forward and speak with officers."

He said Police Scotland was "particularly keen" to speak with anyone who had seen, or has footage of, the red hatchback.

"If you live in the local area and have private CCTV or dashcam footage, please review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation," he said.
