Trees and bushes line the canal on both sides. — "This boat was sailing serenely down the Union Canal as part of the Canal Festival at the Fountainbridge basin, Edinburgh," said Eileen Martin. "It looked lovely, gently making its way along the canal in the sun."

Eleanor Ammons A dark beach. There are people standing at the water's edge and the horizon is orange. — Eleanor Ammons was celebrating the summer solstice with her friends on the beach in Edinburgh when she took this photo at about 01:00. "The skyline was sublime the whole evening, which backlit one of my favourite nights in Edinburgh," she said.

Kevin Hamill A birdseye view of Perth. The River Tay runs through the middle of the city and there are three bridges crossing it. Buildings and trees line either side of the river. — Kevin Hamill said the River Tay looked very still when he took this image of Perth.

Angela Pearson A close-up image of a pheasant's face. It is primarily black with red feathers around its eyes. — "This pheasant came so close to me I could see its tonsils," said Angela Pearson, who took this photo at Lochleven Castle.

Abi Lyall A yellow sunrise over the beach. The sun is reflecting in the water. — "The 03:00 alarm to catch the sunrise at Newburgh Beach, Aberdeenshire, was well worth it," said Abi Lyall.

Colin Denholm A superbike racer on a racing track. — Colin Denholm went to Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife for the British Superbike Championships. "It rained all day but these guys are super brave," he said.

Mark Maloy An osprey diving into the water. A red boat and orange buoy are on the right. — Mark Maloy watched an osprey fishing in Findhorn Bay near Forres.

Lynn Martin A group of bushes trimmed into the shape of the Loch Ness Monster. There are buildings and a park in the background. — Lynn Martin said she "bumped into Nessie" at Fort Augustus on her way home.

John Gallagher The Queensferry Crossing, Forth Road Bridge and Forth Rail Bridge spanning across the water. The reflections of the bridges are in the water and there are clouds in the sky. — John Gallagher captured the three Forth bridges while on a boat cruise in the Firth of Forth.

Helen Turner The dorsal fin of a whale in the sea. There a birds flying around and the Isle of May and Bass Rock in the background. — "We were extremely fortunate to see a group of orcas passing through between the Bass Rock and Isle of May," said Helen Turner from Edinburgh. "It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see such incredible animals in the wild so close to home."

Dave Lynch The Falkirk Wheel illuminated in purple, green and red at night. The reflection is in the water and the sky is dark with clouds. — Dave Lynch from Aberdeen described the Falkirk Wheel as an "engineering marvel" as he took this picture of it illuminated at night.

Grant Downie A dog sitting on a rock in front of Eilean Donan Castle. There is a stone bridge on the left and trees surrounding the castle and in the background. — Grant Downie and his dog Rufus visited Eilean Donan Castle in the Highlands.

Boyd Wild A heron standing on wooden pier. The water is still with the reflection of the heron in it. — Boyd Wild spotted a heron doing evening fishing near Kingennie in Angus. "It seemed used to human presence and allowed me to get quite close before flying off," he said.

Zara Macdonald Dornoch Cathedral under the night sky. It is dark and there is a lightning bolt in the purple-coloured sky. — Zara Macdonald captured a lightning storm at Dornoch Cathedral in the Highlands.

Ken Carson A black and white woodpecker with a red head on a bird feeder in a garden. There is a fence with bushes in the background. — Ken Carson spotted a woodpecker on a bird feeder in Doune, Perthshire.

Gina Galbraith A lighthouse in the sea. The sky is orange with dark clouds streaked across it. — "I took advantage of the warm, settled weather to stay out overnight on the beach at Rattray Head," Gina Galbraith from Edinburgh said. "Shortly before sunrise I captured this view of the imposing lighthouse, looking like a fortress guarding the Aberdeenshire coast."

Emma Legge The dorsal fin of a dolphin among waves in the sea. — Emma Legge said she was thrilled to spot some dolphins on the way to the Isle of May.
