Hundreds attend huge 'meet-up' in Aberdeen car park
Fubar NewsTwo arrests were made and dozens of offences identified by police who were called out to a huge "meet up" of 700 cars at an Asda car park in Aberdeen.
Officers were sent to the incident on Garthdee Road on Saturday following multiple calls from the public reporting serious disorder in the area. Police had also been made aware of the event earlier in the week.
Two men, aged 25 and 28, were arrested for a road traffic offence and drug offences. Dozens of fixed penalty notices were also issued.
Police said CCTV footage was being reviewed and it is anticipated that further offences will be identified in the coming weeks.
Fourteen vehicles were issued with prohibitions due to dangerous conditions, three were seized after being driven without insurance, eight vehicles were issued with defect notices and there were 58 offences relating to construction, use and MOTs that were dealt with by fixed penalty notices.
Sgt Dan Baird from road policing said: "While the majority of attendees behaved, it is disappointing to see such a high number of road traffic offences, with more expected over the coming days and weeks.
"Driving in an anti-social manner is extremely dangerous, illegal and also has a negative impact on the local community."
He added: "I would ask those responsible to stop and think about the consequences of their behaviour and understand that many of the offences detected are known contributory factors to serious injury and fatal crashes."
"We will continue to police these events and taken enforcement action where necessary."
