Officers are appealing for a woman believed to be at the scene to come forward

One person has been arrested after a man suffered serious facial injuries in an attack in Droitwich.

West Mercia Police said officers were called to Westlands Walk's junction with the A38 on Friday at 22:00 BST.

A 28-year-old man was detained on suspicion of assault and remained in custody.

Det Sgt Matthew Robinson said the force was appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly a woman who is believed to have been in the area at the time.

He said: "We are continuing to carry out enquiries to establish exactly what happened on Westlands Walk last night and are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident or the moments leading up to it.

"We understand a woman was in the area at the time of the assault and believe she may have information which could prove vital to our investigation.

"Even if you think what you saw may not be significant, it could help us build a clearer picture of events.

"I would urge the woman, or anyone else who was in the area around 10pm, to please get in touch with us as soon as possible."
