Firefighters have left the scene of a blaze at a scrapyard in Nottingham that caused five homes to be evacuated.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Radford Road, Basford, on Wednesday at 10:31 BST. Six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene, where a large amount of scrap metal was on fire.

In an update on Thursday afternoon, the service said its crews had left the scene and that all roads had reopened.

A joint fire and police investigation confirmed the blaze had been caused by a lithium-ion battery, the service added.
