Leicestershire Police said officers were called to a car park in Garden Street on Wednesday

A woman has been charged with murder after a man was found dead in the back of a van in Leicester.

The body of the man, believed to have been in his 30s, was discovered in the vehicle in a car park in Garden Street on Wednesday evening after a member of the public reported concerns to police.

Officers established the van was registered to an address in west London and 39-year-old Harinder Kaur was arrested in Hounslow on Friday.

The Met Police, which took over the investigation from Leicestershire Police, said Kaur, of Sutton Dene in Hounslow, had been charged with murder and perverting the course of justice.

She is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court later.

The force added work was ongoing to confirm the identity of the man and inform his next of kin.

Officers said they were keen to hear from anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage that may have captured a white Ford Transit van, with the registration BF18 VNV, travelling to Leicester from London.
