Derby Bike Festival will highlight the physical and mental benefits of cycling

A one-day festival which aims to highlight the physical and mental benefits of cycling is set to take place in Derby.

The Derby Bike Festival, held at the Market Hall, will also aim to celebrate the cycling opportunities in the city.

The event will be held on Saturday, and will feature a wide variety of activities and organisations as well as local businesses.

A stage programme, which will feature talks from local speakers who have used bikes to achieve inspiring feats, will also take place.

Visitors will also be able to meet local bike shops and view a selection of historic and modern models from the world-renowned Mercian Cycles.

Nadine Peatfield, leader of Derby City Council, said: "There is no better home for this festival.

"We invite everyone in Derby to hop on their bikes and rediscover our city on two wheels."
