A man who stabbed his housemate to death in Birmingham has been found guilty of his murder.

Victim Kiirpal Nhian had been found collapsed in the garden of the Small Heath house, not breathing and with a stab wound to his chest, on 20 December 2025.

Nhian was pronounced dead at the scene, in Swanage Road, where his killer Abdou Sillah, who also lived at the property, was identified after being seen on camera fleeing shortly after the stabbing, Birmingham Crown Court heard.

Sillah, 24, was found guilty of murder and possession of a bladed blade article last Friday and is due to be sentenced at the same court on 28 September.

Sillah was arrested a few days after the murder, in possession of a knife and wearing clothing similar to that seen on the CCTV.

Det Insp Ade George said: "There is no doubt that Sillah knew his actions could lead to devastating consequences and by his attempts to hide the murder weapon and fleeing from the address, it showed he had no intent of handing himself in.

"Thanks to the work of my officers and other teams across the force, including forensics, we were able to piece everything together, track Sillah down, and put him before the courts to answer for his crimes.

"I hope this result will give everyone who knew Kiirpal some comfort that he will be put behind bars for his actions," George said.

He added that his thoughts remained with Nhian's friends and family.
