Police appeal after fight breaks out on seafront

Police have appealed for information after a "large disturbance" during which several people were injured on a seafront.

Essex Police was called to Marine Parade West, Clacton-on-Sea, shortly before 03:00 BST on Saturday to reports of a fight.

Several injured people who needed medical attention were found at the scene, including one who had suffered a serious head injury.

Detectives believe a car was involved in the incident, but it was no longer there when officers arrived at the scene.

They have closed the area around Pier Gap and asked people to avoid it until further updates.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses to come forward, including those who might have dashcam footage in the area.
