Police have asked a woman they believe confronted the man to come forward

A man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in the kitchen aisle of an Asda supermarket.

West Yorkshire Police said they were called to the store on Asdale Road in Wakefield at about 15:45 BST on Thursday to reports of the assault.

A spokesperson said they believed a woman who was shopping in the kitchen aisle confronted a man after the alleged incident. They asked her or anyone else with information to come forward.

The force confirmed a 28-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and assault of a police officer.
