Ships to dock in marina as part of Invictus tour
Turn to StarboardTwo tall ships will spend a couple of days docked in Hull as part of their expedition around the UK.
Members of the public will be able to board the traditionally rigged Spirit of Falmouth and Pellew, which sail into the city on Tuesday 14 April.
The ships are taking part in the Full Circle Expedition, which is sailing from Falmouth anticlockwise around the UK and co-ordinated by veteran charity Turn to Starboard. They are crewed by 70 wounded, injured and sick veterans and serving personnel on a rotation.
The ships are carrying the Invictus Games flag ahead of an event being held in Birmingham in July to signal one year to go until the 2027 games.
The voyage started in Falmouth in March and is stopping at 22 ports before returning in June.
Sally Terry, CEO of Turn to Starboard, said: "While Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 harnesses the spirit of sport to inspire recovery and rehabilitation, Turn to Starboard draws on the unique challenges of life at sea to rebuild confidence, restore purpose and help veterans navigate life with intention and fulfilment."
Terry said the voyage was a powerful story of courage, service and renewal and showed how adventure and the sea could heal, inspire and bring people together.
The ships are due to arrive between 16:00 and 17:00 BST on Tuesday 14 April and the Invictus Games flag will be raised at the Marina on Wednesday 15 April at 13:15.
On Thursday 16 April, veterans and reservists, and their families, can tour the ships between 09:00 and 12:00, before members of the public can go on board between 14:00 and 16:00.
The ships will then depart Hull the following morning at 06:00.
Entry is free and no tickets are required.
