Former PC offered to supply batons and share info

A former West Yorkshire Police officer has admitted misconduct in a public office after he offered to supply police batons and accessed unauthorised information.

Jenade Yamin, 31, of Branksome Grove in Shipley, admitted offences committed at West Yorkshire Police headquarters in Halifax between 28 November 2019 and 27 July 2022.

At Bradford Crown Court earlier, he pleaded guilty to three counts of accessing police information, one of offering to supply batons and one of making arrangements to assist another to access police information.

Judge Watson agreed to adjourn Yamin's sentencing so he could attend the birth of his child. He was told to expect a custodial sentence on 6 November.

Yamin had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of misconduct in a public office and denied a further 10, and a trial was due to start on Monday.

But on the opening day of an expected three-day trial, he entered guilty pleas for the five counts and was told the remaining counts would be dealt with on sentence.

Yamin resigned from the force in 2023.
