A four-year-old boy has been taken to a London hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car.

Kent Police said a black Range Rover was involved in a collision with a "young pedestrian" on Nelson Road in Gillingham around 16:00 BST on Friday.

The force added that the boy was reportedly crossing the road beforehand.

He remains in hospital.

Kent Police said the road was closed while an investigation took place.

Officers are now asking anyone who saw what happened or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
