A section of the M1 in Leicestershire remains closed in both directions following a serious crash.

National Highways said a stretch of the motorway was shut between junction 21, for the M69, and junction 20 at Lutterworth, following a two-vehicle crash involving a car and a van, at 13:35 BST on Friday.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, have been sent to the scene, National Highways added.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and diversions are now in place.
