The body of a man who entered the River Tyne has been recovered.

Dean Larvin, from Gateshead, was last seen at about 22:00 BST on 10 April, Northumbria Police said.

On Saturday, emergency services were called to Derwenthaugh Marina in Blaydon following a report of a body in the water, which has since been formally identified.

As part of the initial stages of the investigation, a 48-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on police bail.

In a tribute, his family said he had "the kindest heart, the most amazing soul, and a happy, bubbly personality that lit up every room".

"We are all so proud of him and will miss him more than words can say," they added.
