Electric unicycle rider dies on dual carriageway

The rider of an electric unicycle has died in a crash on a dual carriageway.

Dorset Police and emergency services were called to the A338 Wessex Way between the Bournemouth West and Richmond Hill roundabouts at 16:04 BST.

The rider, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his family has been informed.

Road closures have been put in place to allow for an examination of the scene.

Sgt Dave Cotterill said thoughts remained with the victim's family and loved ones.

He urged anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage to contact the force.

He added: "Finally, I appreciate the road closures will have had an impact on traffic during a busy time, but the serious nature of this incident meant they are absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and to carry out enquiries."
