Pool will stay closed after smashed glass danger
Ben Parker/BBCA children's paddling pool won't be refilled, after it was drained when smashed glass was found in the water.
Ipswich Borough Council said broken bottles were found at the paddling pool at Bourne Park, Ipswich, Suffolk.
Due to ongoing water restrictions, including a hosepipe ban, the council said it won't be filled back up.
"To ensure everyone's safety, the paddling pool will now need to be drained to allow for a full inspection and clean-up," the council said.
Ben Parker/BBCStefan Long, the council's portfolio holder for environment and sport, said: "This is such a senseless act by those who have left dangerous glass where children play.
"I am really sad that under current water restrictions, this means we have to leave the paddling pool dry.
"I hope those responsible consider how this affects local young children who would have enjoyed the pool in the last days of their summer holidays."
