Jersey had its first five-day spell of temperatures of at least 30C (86F) during the recent heatwave, officials have confirmed.

A post on X by Jersey Met said a temperature of 30C was recorded at Maison St Louis Observatory on Thursday.

It said temperatures of this level or above had never been registered before across five consecutive days in the island since records began in 1894.

Jersey had its hottest May day on record on Sunday with temperatures in St Helier reaching 30.1C (86.2C), before this figure was beaten 24 hours later when it rose to 31.9C (89.4F) and then to 34.2C (93.56F) on Tuesday.
