'Have the time of your lives at Creamfields... but just be careful'

Dominique Williams "always wanted to live life to the fullest"

A mum whose daughter was killed while travelling to a music festival has urged those attending this year's Creamfields to have the "time of their lives" but "just be careful".

Dominique Williams, 20, from Maghull, died in a car crash on Merseyside on 29 August 2009.

Her friend Nicola Edgar was also killed in the crash on Higher Road in Halewood while two others were injured.

A coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death for both women after a screw caused a puncture in one of the car's rear wheels.

Dominique's mum Lesley said her daughter "had so much to live for but life goes like that sometimes, it takes you down this path where you never expected to be.

"I want people to go to Creamfields and have the time of their lives – that's what festivals are – but just be careful because you never know."

Lesley said she missed her daughter more now "because you're just thinking of all the things she would have been doing".

Seventeen years on from her daughter's death, Lesley said her "mission in life was just to talk about her".

"This week I always play a video in my head of her last week and it's funny how I can recall so much of what she did in the last week," she said.

"I miss her now more because you're just thinking of all the things she would have been doing.

"My two sons have had little girls and you're thinking she'd be an auntie or would she have been a mum?

"So much goes with the grief.

"People say time's a healer. I don't think that's a really good expression.

"I think you just have to try your best to live alongside it as a parent, a brother and a family."

Lesley said she would always remember her daughter, who was a dance and performing arts student at Edge Hill, for her generous side.

"The impact she had on people - if you met her, you remembered her," she said.

"She just had this lovely way and just wanted to help anyone."
