Fire crews tackle blaze at primary school

Multiple fire crews were in attendance at a blaze at a primary school.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to Brooklands Catholic Primary School in Brantham at 13:09 BST to reports that the building's roof was on fire.

Crews from Ipswich East, Ipswich Princes Street and Hadleigh were at the scene and were being assisted by two crews and an officer from Essex Fire and Rescue Service.

Police and ambulance crews also attended before a stop was called by the fire service at 14:27.

Numerous fire engines were called to the scene to tackle the blaze

The fire service said the fire has spread internally and firefighters made use of breathing apparatus as well as three hose reel jets and various ladders.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Police said it was called at 13:26 to help secure the site and assist with traffic management.

The East of England Ambulance Service said it had sent its Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene to also assist the fire service.
