Compton CareA free nine-week art trail featuring dozens of colourful dragon sculptures will come to Wolverhampton next summer.
Trail of the Dragons will run from 5 July to 5 September 2027 and feature 30 sculptured designed by national and regional artists, installed at key locations across the city.
At the end of the trail, the dragons will be auctioned off to raise money for local charity, Compton Care. They provides specialist palliative care and bereavement support to people living with life-limiting conditions.
As well as the large dragons, 30 smaller babies, or hatchlings, decorated by local schools and community groups, will be displayed in indoor locations.
The fundraising for Compton Care will coincide with the charity's 45th anniversary year.
There will be an app and trail map available so that people can take part, and each sculpture will be sponsored by businesses.
From May to December 2026, sponsors, artists and schools are being invited to get involved.
The dragons will be painted from March to April 2027, with the trail running between July and September.
They will be auctioned off at an event in October 2027.
