South Yorkshire Police said the crash happened in Bond Street on Sunday

A woman has been left seriously injured after being hit by a car in Doncaster.

Emergency services were called to Bond Street in Rossington at about 19:15 BST on Sunday to reports a pedestrian had been struck by a silver Volkswagen Tiguan.

The victim, a woman in her 80s, was taken to hospital for treatment where she remains, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.

The driver of the Volkswagen stopped at the scene and was assisting police with their inquiries, they added.

Anyone with information or relevant doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage was asked to contact South Yorkshire Police.
