Man's body parts were found in woods, court told
Devon and Cornwall PoliceGraphic images of a man's skull, vertebrae and jawbone found in woodland have been shown during a murder trial.
Prosecuting barrister Ahmed Hossain KC told jurors at Winchester Crown Court the body parts discovered in Paramoor Woods, near Sticker, Cornwall, belonged to Daniel Coleman.
James Desborough, of Old Oak Woods, Lower Sticker, has denied murdering Claudio Aquilino, 57, between 17 April and 7 July, and Coleman, 43, between 2 June and 7 July last year.
The 40-year-old, who allegedly lived in a cabin in the woods, has previously pleaded guilty to preventing the lawful burial of Aquilino and Coleman. The trial continues.
The court heard Desborough, a fan of TV serial killer Dexter, murdered the two men he met at Sandy Lodge, a residence for homeless people in Newquay, before dismembering and burning their bodies in the woodland.
Police discovered 1,900 burned bone fragments believed to be from the body of Aquilino in Paramoor Woods and parts of Coleman's dismembered body in a shallow grave nearby, prosecutors said.
Devon and Cornwall PoliceDesborough told a forensic biologist involved in the woodland searches he particularly enjoyed the dismemberment scenes in the television programme Dexter, the court was told.
The jury has already been shown a secret entrance in the woodland and an axe found in searches by police.
