Family left 'heartbroken' after body of man found

The family of a man whose body was found in a park have said they are "shocked and heartbroken".

A murder investigation has been launched after the body of Adam Lucas was discovered in Victoria Park, Leamington Spa, shortly before 07:45 BST on Wednesday.

Officers were called to the site after a member of the public saw a man in the river, police said.

A post-mortem examination on Thursday established that he had died from injuries which were consistent with an assault.

In a statement issued via Warwickshire Police his family said: "We're all shocked and heartbroken to hear the sad news of the sudden passing of our beloved Adam.

"He was an amazing and loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin.

"We kindly ask that he is kept in your thoughts and prayers while we try to navigate this as a family."

The force said investigations were continuing into the circumstances.

It urged anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area from late Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning to contact officers.
