Fundraiser embarks on 'most magical challenge' yet
BBCA fundraiser who has raised more than £440,000 for charity is preparing to run 50 miles with 50 schools over two days.
Manny Singh Kang said his Manny's Mile would be his "most magical" challenge because it would give young people the opportunity to try something new.
He will visit 25 schools in Wolverhampton on Thursday 17 September and another 25 the following day with children and staff encouraged to join in, cheer him on and help spread awareness of dementia.
"It's going to bring out heroes," he said. "Young children who may have never done anything like this, may have never run, may have never thought about fundraising."
The Wolves fan said within 24 hours of putting a call out on social media, 68 schools had contacted him. "50 miles, 50 schools - who knows how many children are going to join in?" he said.
His fundraising for Dementia UK began eight years ago after he started researching the condition. He said the number of people living with dementia, alongside the impact on their families, made him want to do something to help.
He initially set a fundraising target of £5,000.
"Eight years later and we've just gone past £440,000," he said.
The Network Rail worker has taken on many challenges including walking 130 miles to London before taking part in the marathon and spending 24 hours on an excercise bike.
He was recognised with an MBE for his services to rail safety and charity.
