Man in critical condition after pick-up truck crashes in Shetland

A man is in critical condition in hospital after a serious crash in Shetland.

Emergency services were called after a white Toyota Hilux crashed on the B9706 Scatsa Airport Road at about 00:45 on Sunday.

The male passenger of the pick-up was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Hospital.

The 30-year-old male driver was arrested in connection and released pending further inquiries.

Sgt Scott MacDonald said: "Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of this crash and I am appealing for anyone who saw the crash and hasn't already spoken to officers to get in touch.

"I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area and who may have dash cam or private CCTV footage which could assist to contact us."
