Motorists have faced long delays during the morning rush hour after a fuel spillage on the M25 overnight.

National Highways said three out of four lanes on the anti-clockwise stretch between junctions 27 and 26 near Epping in Essex were initially closed for emergency resurfacing work.

It said motorists faced delays of two hours and there were about 10 miles of congestion in the area.

All lanes were reopened shortly after 09:00 BST but drivers were warned that there were still long delays.
