Luxury care home to accept residents from August
Chatham Waters Care HomeA luxury 75-bed care home will start accepting residents this summer – 13 months after construction began.
Chatham Waters Care Home, which will have specialist on-site dementia support, is to be completed in July, with people moving in the following month, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
It will be managed by Hervines Group, in partnership with Montpelier Estates, providing "expertise and service innovation" and setting "a new benchmark for later-life living in Medway".
Montpelier Estates director Anna Ciesielska said: "This project has been much more than delivering a care home - it is heart-warming to become a part of the fabric of the whole community."
The care home is part of the larger Peel Waters scheme to redevelop the Chatham Docks area, which was approved, along with 300 homes, in 2021.
The site has also been included in Medway Council's draft local plan for mixed use development, meaning it could see applications for both homes and businesses.
Designed by Montpelier Estates, the four-story building cost more than £15m to build and is in the centre of the site, offering residential and respite care in a purpose-built setting with waterside views.
The home will charge residents about £1,700 per week, depending upon the specific requirements of each patient.
It will feature a gym, library, cinema, salon and cafe adapted to support those living with dementia.
The home will also help to ease bed-blocking in hospitals by giving patients somewhere to go when they are discharged.
Hervines Group director Chris Babington said: "We really look forward to delivering our vision to create a true sanctuary where people feel safe, valued, and at home."
