Warning over scam tradesmen offering work for cash
BBCPolice are warning people to be aware of tradesmen hawkers offering to do shoddy work for cash.
Guernsey Police said the hawkers were individuals who offered to do handyman jobs on a cash-only basis, and often requested payment upfront before completing the job to a poor standard and leaving the island.
Police said the scammers generally targeted vulnerable or older people by cold-calling them or going door-to-door putting pressure on people to pay.
Residents have been urged to be cautious, and to ensure vulnerable family members and neighbours are aware of the scam.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Guernsey Police on 01481 222 222, or to report anonymously to Crimestoppers.
