Three more people, including a teenager, have been arrested after a man was fatally stabbed.

Officers were called to Shields Road in Byker, Newcastle, at 19:25 BST on Tuesday and the victim, in his 20s, was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary where he died a short time later.

Two men, aged 24 and 22, and a boy aged 16 arrested earlier on suspicion of murder have since been released on police bail, Northumbria Police said.

Now, two further men, aged 40 and 33, and another boy aged 16, have been arrested in Walker on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and remain in police custody.

The force said officers remained in the Byker and Walker areas while the investigation continued and to reassure the public.
