Man admits causing death of cyclist in crash
GoogleA man has admitted causing the death of a nursery owner in a crash in Ilkley three years ago.
Adrian Stocks, 59, was struck by an Audi vehicle as he cycled on Denton Road in April 2023, Bradford Crown Court heard.
The victim, a director of Cliffe House Day Nurseries which runs children's centres in Leeds and Bradford, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision near the River Wharfe.
Sohail Jahangir, 23, of North Avenue in Bradford, admitted causing his death by dangerous driving and will be sentenced on 22 June.
Honorary Recorder of Bradford, Judge Jonathan Rose, told Jahangir only a prison sentence could be imposed for the offending.
But the judge said he was not going to determine the length of the sentence until a pre-sentence report had been prepared on the defendant.
