Tributes to 'proud dad' after fatal collision

The family of a cyclist who died following a collision with a car have said they will remember him with "love and kindness".

Dad-of-three Richard Smith, 50, was taken to hospital after an accident involving a white Mercedes CLA 180 on Chartwell Road in Norwich just after 17:00 BST on Friday.

The proud Norwich City supporter died in hospital on Monday.

David Morgan, 40, of George Winter Court in Norwich appeared before magistrates on Monday charged with attempted murder and driving with excess alcohol. Norfolk Police said it would discuss the charges further with the Crown Prosecution Service.

Morgan is due to appear at Norwich Crown Court on 8 June.

A family tribute to Richard said: "We are all struggling to make sense of such a loss to all of our lives.

"Rich was a keen NCFC supporter, a blood and organ donor and a proud dad to his three children.

"We will remember him with love and kindness and for some truly terrible dance moves."

His employers Delta Fire Ltd tribute to him online.

"Richard was a valued member of our team and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of working with him.

"Our thoughts are with Richard's family, friends and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.

"We are supporting our staff as they come to terms with this loss."
