Several homes have been evacuated in Birmingham after police uncovered "a number of suspicious items" at an address in Northfield.

There were road closures near Hollymoor Way, where the property is located.

Army explosives experts were called in as a precaution, West Midlands Police said.

The force confirmed that officers remained at the scene on Saturday afternoon.

"As a precaution, several homes have been evacuated while searches take place," they added.
