Schools went into a temporary lockdown after a report of a man seen with a weapon in a park, police have said.

Thames Valley Police said officers were called to Cantley Park, Wokingham, on Monday afternoon.

The schools, which went into lockdown as a "precaution", had since reopened, and officers remained at the scene carrying out extensive enquiries, the force said.

In a statement, it added: "There is a significant police presence in the area and we are taking all necessary steps to manage the incident safely."
