Two teens remain in custody after fatal stabbing
BBCTwo teenagers arrested on suspicion of murder after a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed remain in custody.
A 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were arrested following the attack near the Ortongate Shopping Centre, Peterborough, on Sunday, and are being held at Thorpe Wood Police Station.
The teenager who died has been named locally as Baye Bireme and flowers have been left at the scene in the area of Riseholme.
Cambridgeshire Police said it had obtained a 36-hour extension to its custody time limits from Peterborough Magistrates' Court.
A 16-year-old girl from March, Cambridgeshire, has been charged with possessing a knife/bladed article in a public place and is due to appear at Huntingdon Magistrates' Court on 13 May.
She, along with a 17-year-old girl, was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and both have been released on conditional bail.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out at Peterborough City Hospital on Wednesday.
Shariqua Ahmed/BBCA large police cordon was placed in parts of Riseholme following the incident and another one was placed at the entrance to the Ortongate Shopping Centre on Monday.
The police confirmed the cordon has now been removed but officers remained in the area to conduct inquiries.
Det Ch Insp Richard Stott, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Major Crime Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a young man, and we are in contact with his family and keeping them updated.
"While we understand the death will be concerning for local people, we do not believe this was a random attack and there will be a significant police presence in the area over coming days."
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police further added: "There is nothing at this time to suggest the attack was racially motivated."
