Delays as tunnel closed over crash and vehicle fire
GoogleMotorists have been told to expect delays on a major Surrey road following a two-motorcycle crash, which followed a vehicle fire earlier in the day.
National Highways said the Hindhead Tunnel on the A3 had been closed northbound between the A283 (Milford) and the A333 (Hindhead), due to the crash first reported at about 15:10 BST.
The tunnel was also closed earlier in the day due to the fire at about 06:40, but reopened after "recovery and clear-up".
Surrey Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service are at the scene of the motorcycle crash, the agency said.
Two fire engines were sent to the earlier blaze by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, but firefighters left the scene at about 07:45. There were no reported injuries.
National Highways said diversion routes were in place and drivers should allow extra time for journeys.
"You may wish to re-route or even delay your journey," it added.
