A councillor said he was left "upset" and "concerned" after his sports car's windscreen was smashed by vandals outside an election count in Greater Manchester.

Kamran Ghafoor, who is leader of The Oldham Group and a councillor for Hollinwood, in the town, said the car also had its bumper dented while he was at the vote count in the town.

Ghafoor said he parked on Union Street before discovering the damage at about 02:00 BST. Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers attended the scene and no arrests had been made.

"It was a targeted attack 100%," Ghafoor told BBC Radio Manchester.

"Everybody knows it's my car, so I'm quite an easy target. It was upsetting but things can be replaced. Nobody was hurt - that's my main concern."

"It's got my private registration plates on it. So everybody knows there's only one man who drives a Ferrari in Oldham, and that's me."

"Nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

"But I am more concerned about my family than I am of myself or my belongings."

He also said was not "fearful" after the incident but felt the need to be "careful", as a father-of-four children.

"I'm a family man and I don't care for myself. I care more about what my children go through when they see this," he added.

The incident comes just under two months after a building on King Street in Oldham, owned by KKS Investors, made up of Ghafoor and colleague Sameer Zulqurnain, collapsed - leaving five people injured.
