Emergency services were called to Priors Hall Park, Corby, on Wednesday evening

Firefighters were called to five deliberately started fires in one park on the same day.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Corby, Oundle and Desborough were called to Priors Hall Park, Corby, on Wednesday to deal with fires that had all been started at about 20:30 BST.

The arson attacks burnt trees, shrubbery and grass, and police attended, it added.

It warned parents to speak to their children about the risks of starting fires, saying it had so far attended 28 deliberate fires since the beginning of April.

It said crews used a hose reel jet, beaters and wildfire backpacks to put out the fires.

A drone was also used to search for more potential fires in the area.

The service said: "As we go into the final weekend of the Easter holidays and into the warmer months, parents are being asked to speak to their children on the risks of starting fires and be aware of the signs of arson.

"Arson is a serious crime. Setting fires can cause severe damage to property, harm wildlife, and most importantly, put lives at risk.

"Setting fires deliberately can also have an impact on our resources, taking crews away from helping members of the public that need them."
