Driver arrested after boy hit by car

A driver has been arrested after a child was hit by a car in a Greater Manchester town.

The young boy, understood to be aged about five, was hit in King Street in Heywood at about 15:10 BST on Thursday and taken to hospital with a broken leg, police said.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said they also attended to assist police and make the area safe.

The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug, Greater Manchester Police said.
