Four dogs die during fire at kennels

Several dogs have died in a fire in a large shed which was being used as a kennels.

Devon and Somerset Fire Service said it received reports of the blaze in Clayhanger, near Bampton, at about 21:35 BST on Sunday.

The building, which was about 15m by 11m (49ft by 36ft) in size, was described as being "well alight" on arrival with crews from Bampton, Dulverton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe battling the flames until about 01:40 on Monday.

A fire service spokesperson confirmed four dogs died in the blaze and the cause is believed to be accidental.
