Care home 'disappointed' by inspection rating
LDRSBosses at a care home in Derby have said they are "disappointed" with its critical inspection rating.
Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors concluded Regency Care Home in Allenton "requires improvement" - the second lowest mark possible - despite inspectors removing it out of special measures.
Improvements since the home's inspection in 2023 were praised in the latest report, but the CQC said it remained concerned over people's safety at the Queensferry Gardens home.
Care provider Agincare said it was "disappointed" with the overall rating and told the Local Democracy Reporting Service it had submitted a request for a review, claiming the home had "improved rapidly".
Regency Care Home provides support for more than 30 adults living with dementia, mental health, disability and/or sensory impairment.
Following an inspection in February, which was published in May, officials said the home "did not smell clean in all areas" and risks of infection "were not managed and controlled".
Additionally, the CQC stated the premises were "not adapted for people living with dementia and risks were not always well managed".
There were also concerns made in terms of "low" staffing numbers and training of staff.
But there were positives in the report - with some criteria rated "good" - the second highest mark possible.
